Katie Smith

Katie is an exciting and versatile presenter and commentator who’s covered multiple Olympics, Paralympics, Women’s World Cups and various other major events, appearing across BBC Radio 5Live, BBC World Service and BBC TV.

Katie was the lead rowing commentator for the BBC at the Paris Olympic Games, calling home three British gold medals in what ended up being Team GB’s most successful sport in Paris. The dramatic, close finishes in several of the races became some of the most memorable moments of the Games. She also brought to life the taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling on the radio. Katie was the lead presenter for 5Live at the Paralympics, while also anchoring coverage at Wimbledon, the French Open tennis, and FA Cup action, in and amongst waking up the nation as the sports presenter on 5Live Breakfast.

Her engaging, warm and dynamic style captures the imagination of any sports fan whether it’s reporting from Premier League grounds at the weekend, delving into the human stories behind the sport, or taking you to the heart of the action at events like the Superbowl or the Euros.
